1. Military
The current military decisions in the war overseas are highly debatable. Many people feel that the war is unnecessary, but some feel that America needs to finish what it started. The topic is important to me because it will affect many Americans, including my friends and myself, who will be joining the various branches of the military.
2. Nuclear Energy
America is looking to find it's next source of efficient energy and one of the best options is nuclear energy. Some Americans fear that nuclear reactors are far too dangerous to control, but in reality they can produce effective energy with very little waste. If America pursued nuclear energy options, our country would become less dependent on oil and coal.
3. Gun Control
As part of the second amendment citizens of the United States have the right to bear arms. Many people feel that legal gun sales lead to violent events and that further restricting the sales of guns would be beneficial to the nation. By tightening security measures there can be a lower crime rate, while still providing citizens with an opportunity to bear arms.
4. Steroid Use
Many athletes have tested positive for the use of steroids, or have admitted that they have used such stimulants. Should the penalties of steroid usage become more severe? If the penalties were more severe, young adults would understand that they really do not need steroids to enhance their performance.

I enjoy the your view about steroid use and agree 100% because it is a widely viewed topic and concern for professional sports as well as the athletes.
ReplyDeleteenergy energy energy is seen as one of the top priorities in society as a whole. i, too, believe that the world needs a drastic change in the way we power our ammenities, or if we have as many for that matter
ReplyDeleteHi Tom,
ReplyDeleteI really like topics two and four! They are unique but definitely important in today's world. What types of penalities would you institue for steroid users?
Numbers 1,2, and 4 seem like good topics that are very interesting to me. Being in the military myself, I would like to know more about this issue and if it's justified or not. It def would need to be narrowed down. I also like #2. I don't know much about it, but any new source of energy that will free us from being dependent of oil companies in the Middle East is good to research.
ReplyDeleteEvaluation:
ReplyDelete1 Military: Many people feel that the war is unnecessary, but some feel that America needs to finish what it started. My opinion is that America should complete the war instead of withdrawing.
2 Nuclear Energy: Some Americans fear that nuclear reactors are far too dangerous to control, but in reality they can produce effective energy with very little waste. I feel that nuclear energy is a great alternative to oil.
3 Gun control: By tightening security measures there can be a lower crime rate, while still providing citizens with an opportunity to bear arms. Citizens should have the right to bear arms, but the law must buckle down so that criminals can not abuse the amendment.
4 Steroid Use: Some people feel that steroid use is a fairly small problem that doesn't have any negative side effects. Others have noted the negative side effects of steroids. I feel that stricter penalties for positive steroid testing and mandatory steroid educational programs would significantly reduce the use of steroids in adolescents and professional athletes.
